Cardiac Rehab Center Opening Soon

A cardiac rehabilitation center is designed and structured to help you recover from cardiovascular disease, a cardiac procedure or make the lifestyle changes needed to prevent future events.  After suffering from a heart attack, bypass surgery or angioplasty, your focus is on getting back to living a normal lifestyle.  Cardiac rehabilitation is a structured program of education and activities that guide you towards a healthier future.

At Preston Memorial Hospital, we are thrilled for the opening of our Cardiac Rehab Center.  We hope to meet the cardiovascular needs of patients suffering from cardiovascular disease, post heart attack, congestive heart failure, angioplasty and stenting.  Our center features a team of skilled physicians, specialists and nurses who will provide an individualized plan of exercise, diet, education and emotional support.

While it might be difficult to start cardiac rehabilitation after a life-altering event like a heart attack, you’ll benefit in the long run.  Cardiac rehabilitation helps you rebuild your life by increasing functional capacity, reducing risk factors, improving outlook and increasing knowledge.  It’s normal to have fear and anxiety after a cardiovascular event.  Know that the dedication you put into your rehabilitation will help you get back to a normal routine.

At Preston Memorial Hospital, we have a strong commitment to providing personalized care and service for the Kingswood community.  We saw a need for individualized cardiovascular care and rehabilitation service and put the Cardiac Rehab Center in motion.  We know that hospitalization is never an entirely pleasant experience, but we do our best to make you as comfortable as possible.

Preston Memorial Hospital Spring Fundraising Gala

The Preston Memorial Hospital Foundation was created in 1994 as the sole fundraising organization for our nonprofit hospital.  Each year, Preston Memorial Hospital Foundation holds a fundraising gala to raise money so we are able to continue providing quality health care to residents of the community.  The 2016 Spring Fundraising Gala will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at the Waterfront Place Hotel from 6 pm until midnight.

This is our 9th Annual Spring Fundraising Gala and all funds will go towards our new Preston Memorial Hospital that opened last May.  Each year, local businesses choose to sponsor a table for their employees to attend this fundraising event as a way to thank employees for a job well done, or to show corporate support for our local hospital.  Is your company or organization interested in attending the 2016 Spring Gala?

As a corporate sponsor, your company receives publicity through our video program that will be playing throughout the evening, as well as in local and regional publications.  Additionally, the Preston Memorial Hospital Foundation will provide a donation receipt for your tax purposes upon request.  We offer a number of sponsorship tiers to suit your donation desires.  Choose between Table Captain, Bronze Sponsorship, Silver Sponsorship, Gold Sponsorship and Diamond Sponsorship.

Preston Memorial Hospital serves over 10,000 people for emergency care, 1,400 people who need hospitalization and almost 50,000 people who need outpatient services.  The new Preston Memorial Hospital was opened in May 2015 and is a spectacular facility for local residents.  Our new facility was critical for the future of healthcare in Preston County and we greatly appreciate donations!

Thank you for your support of the Preston Memorial Hospital Foundation!  If you have any questions about the annual spring gala, please contact Kimberly Colebank at 304-791-3742 or visit www.prestonmemorial.org.

Preston Sleep Solutions

It is believed that at least 40 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep disorders each year and an additional 20 million suffer from occasional sleep problems, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Sleep is a vital part of individual and public health, so if you have sleep issues, it’s important to seek help. Preston Memorial Hospital has a now nationally accredited sleep center - Preston Sleep Solutions!

Preston Sleep Solutions was selected as one of 18 nationally accredited sites to also provide education. We treat a multitude of sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, and insomnia. If you feel that you may be suffering from a sleep disorder that is interfering with the way you function during the day, your healthcare provider may request a sleep study. Your sleep patterns will be monitored and recorded in one of Preston Sleep Solutions’ private recording rooms. Before going to bed, a technician will place dime size sensors at various sites on your body to record brain waves, muscle activity, leg and arm movements, heart rhythms, breathing patterns, oxygen levels and other body functions during sleep. These monitoring devices cause little discomfort and will not hamper movements during the night. The test results will be reviewed by a physician specializing in sleep medicine and recommendations regarding treatment will be made.

If you are diagnosed with a sleep disorder, it can usually be treated effectively. The team of specialists at our Sleep Disorder Laboratory will evaluate the results of your studies and will make recommendations for treatment. Treatment may include medication, changes in daily habits or work schedules, or a simple nasal mask to relieve snoring and upper-airway obstruction.

Sleep disorders are treatable, and with the exception of sleep apnea surgery, most sleep treatments are minimally invasive. Sleep disorders can be dangerous for the individual as well as the public. If your sleep issues are negatively impacting your life during waking hours, now is the time to seek help. Preston Sleep Solutions is your answer to a better night’s rest!
